SIMPSON, Mrs. Marilynn Ruth -We have said "Goodbye" to the Divine Miss M! The "Goddess" is gone but not without having blessed so many of us during her reign. We have learned from Mom the importance of empathy, compassion, integrity, communication and the ability to love unconditionally, and without borders. Marilynn was predeceased by her beloved Mom, Vera Alexander, her cherished Sister Carol, Father Don Willis and adored Husband Bill Simpson. It's also important to acknowledge another wonderful man whom entered her life in the last four years. Chuck Thompson injected so much love and laughter into the last few years of Marilynn's life and we were all made better people by having had the pleasure of knowing this great guy. The Palliative care team at PRHC deserve sincere thanks for providing the kind of care that we thought no longer existed. Dr. Gibson, charge nurses, nurses, cleaners and orderlies were all very caring and considerate and it made our experience, and that of Marilynn's, one filled with the level of dignity which she deserved and commanded. The family, friends and Neighbours have been saved for last, as without their contribution Mom would have had a very different final days and weeks. Thanks to this legion of Neighbours whom protected and enveloped Mom with a blanket of love and security. Team Marilynn consisted of Bonnie Farrell, Fran Gardiner, Kim Montgomery, Randy Hewie, Laurie Tinney, Gloria Best, Andrea Tinney, Lori Goslick, Sheila and Don Cain, and Faye and Jack Delaney. In order to thank these kind people properly, would take a page each, and we must specially thank Kim Montgomery for providing unsolicited overnight care, ongoing trips to caregivers and the hospital, and for helping to keep Mom focused and unafraid during a very difficult time. Dave (Kellie), Steve (Maddie) and Tracy, would like to extend profound gratitude and thanks to the above people for their roles in assisting Mom. Thanks to the uniquely special friends from Arndon Ave. Steve, Tracy and I are so thankful that Mom and Dad found such wonderful people with whom they could love, laugh and cry. Without question, an impactful life, lived to its' fullest! A Celebration of Marilynn's life will be held on Friday, February 26th, 2016 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the NISBETT FUNERAL HOME, 600 MONAGHAN ROAD SOUTH, PETERBOROUGH K9J 5H9. 705-745-3211.
